Today we took the kids to Altitude Trampoline Park and it was so fun! On the way there I had a conversation with one of the students about what they intend to do after high school and she explained that she wanted to go into nursing because she loves to help people. After we signed in, enjoyed the park, ate, and returned to the site for pickup.
I would love to participate in an off-site service event with DREAM again!
Today was an enrichment day, however it was the start of another 9-weeks for the students. We spent time reviewing their grades and discussing the one's that were lower than 80%. Also, I did one-on-one homework help with one student in math, English, and science for the week. Lastly, we wrapped up with Edmentum for about an hour, incorporating their creed logs and ensuring that they understand the key initiatives and importance of taking Edmentum serious.
Overall, today was very calm and allowed room for growth for the students.
Today, we spent time with the students but also focused on getting ready for our site visit. Majority of our time was spent making sure everything for the students was up to date and ensuring that everyone had their materials for our activity. We spent time building different wooded items, like pencil holders and a penguin's hockey game. Overall, today's experience was amazing!
Today would be considered our enrichment day at RE. In dream we did a science activity of producing carbon dioxide, by mixing sugar and yeast in a bottle with warm water to inflate a balloon. It was our job as volunteers to make sure the students could recite back to us the importance of realizing carbon dioxide on farms for trees and plants.
We also spent time making sure that their grades and assignments were up to date so they won't have anything to worry about going into the end of this school year.
I always enjoy my time at RE and can't wait to return!
